Replace the onboarding security disclaimer's "hobby project ... sharp
edges" line with a friendlier attribution to the OpenClaw Foundation (a
non-profit), matching the LICENSE copyright holder, and drop the beta
claim. Rename the now-misnamed wizard.security.beta key to
wizard.security.attribution across en/zh-CN/zh-TW and its consumer.
README intro gains the same attribution plus "learns and grows with
you".
* fix(onboard): survive inference owner drift and verify credentials route-aware
Guided onboarding crashed ("Could not start the CLI") on the openai-api-key
candidate when OPENAI_API_KEY was set and a Codex CLI login existed:
- owner revalidation resolved provider auth without the route model's
id/api, so the transport gate never applied and profile-first discovery
picked the Codex-imported ChatGPT OAuth profile instead of the env key
the probe ran with — a deterministic fingerprint mismatch
- that mismatch escaped the activation persistence path as a plain throw,
crashing the wizard ladder instead of moving to the next candidate
Owner re-resolution now carries resolved model transport facts (fail closed
when the model cannot be resolved), and all setup revalidation sites route
through one helper whose drift error activation maps to
{ ok: false, status: "auth" }.
* feat(onboard): prefer logged-in subscription CLIs over env API keys in setup ladder
* fix(onboard): promote codex only on verifiable ChatGPT OAuth tokens
* fix(onboard): surface detected AI candidates in the top auth-choice tier
* fix(onboard): name detected candidates and the current model clearly
* test(setup): mock model resolution in the bound-session lock test
* fix(system-agent): carry verified model transport facts
* fix(browser): tab creation steals window focus during agent automation
Agent-created tabs inherited CDP's foreground default: direct CDP
Target.createTarget omitted the background flag, and the extension
relay's createTab defaulted to active:true, so every agent tab open
activated the new tab (and, on the extension driver, focused the
window), interrupting whatever the human was doing in that browser.
Direct CDP tab creation now requests background:true (agent tab
ownership/selection is target-id based and never depended on
activation), and the extension relay defaults an omitted background
to true while preserving an explicit background:false, matching the
Codex/Claude-in-Chrome model the extension driver mirrors.

* fix(wizard): treat not-directory paths as missing in migration snapshots
The setup migration snapshot and recovery paths checked for ENOENT only
when catching fs errors. ENOTDIR (returned when a path component that
should be a directory is a file) was not recognized, so a not-directory
migration root made fs.readdir throw instead of resolving to no recovery
record, and interrupted the onboarding migration snapshot hash.
Migrate both local isMissingPathError helpers to the shared
isNotFoundPathError guard (matches ENOENT and ENOTDIR), following the
same migration applied to plugins in #107691.

* feat(onboard): add browser-first guided handoff
* chore: drop release-only CHANGELOG edit from browser-handoff branch
* fix(onboard): make browser handoff reach the gateway on real installs
The presence probe connected as a raw shared-auth client with a possibly
SecretRef-managed token, which the gateway rejects as an unpaired Control UI
client ("device identity required"), so the handoff never fired and always
fell through to the terminal hatch. Read presence as a CLI-mode loopback client
(the trusted path every openclaw command uses) so operator.read is granted, and
share that one auth path between the reachability gate and the wait loop. Also
short-circuit when gateway.controlUi.enabled is false so onboarding does not open
a dead dashboard URL and block for the full timeout.
* fix(onboard): share resolved target between handoff gate and wait
The reachability preflight now resolves the same target (and shared secret) the
wait loop uses, and presents the configured secret to the CLI-mode presence
read. Known remaining limitation: on fresh quickstart gateways whose auth token
is written to config but resolved differently at runtime, the presence read is
rejected with a token mismatch and the handoff falls back to the terminal hatch.
Tracked for follow-up before enabling the browser handoff by default.

* feat(onboarding): recommend plugins and skills from installed apps
Scan installed macOS apps during classic onboarding (TCC-free), gather
candidates from official catalogs + ClawHub search, let the configured
model pick genuine matches, and offer an opt-in multiselect install step.
Adds a device.apps node-host command (default-off sharing, Android-parity
envelope) so remote gateways can request a paired Mac's inventory, and a
wizard.appRecommendations kill switch. Custom setup-inference completions
no longer inherit the 32-token verification-probe output cap.
* feat(onboarding): recommend apps in guided flow
* fix(onboarding): harden app recommendations against ClawHub self-promotion
Third-party ClawHub skills are never pre-selected regardless of model tier
(publisher-controlled listing text reaches the matcher prompt and could
promote itself); their labels now say they install third-party code.
Installed-app scans follow symlinked .app bundles. Matcher output stays
bounded by the resolved model's own maxTokens budget (documented invariant).
* fix(onboarding): key official catalog candidates by resolved plugin id
Real catalog entries are package manifests without a top-level id; keying the
candidate map and channel/provider classification by entry.id collapsed the
whole official catalog into one undefined-keyed entry, so no official plugin
or channel was ever recommended. Regression test runs against the bundled
catalogs.
* fix(onboarding): satisfy lint, types, deadcode, and migration gates
Split the guided-onboarding test into a self-contained custodian suite to stay
under max-lines. Narrow app-recommendation exports (drop dead node-payload
normalizer, unexport internal types/helpers, route candidate tests through the
public API), replace map-spread with a helper, unexport device.apps result
types, add installedAppsSharing to node-host migration expectations, cast the
wizard multiselect mock, and regenerate the docs map.
* test(onboarding): register new live test in the shard classifier
* feat(onboard): guided onboarding becomes the custodian flow
Question zero asks for discovery consent up front (full access recommended,
guarded asks once or configures manually; persisted as wizard.accessMode and
honored on reruns). Discovery quietly collects auto-ladder failures into one
summary with details behind 'See other options', quips about detected coding
agents, and announces the working route as a default with an easy undo.
After inference and the memory offer (skipped when discovery was declined),
fresh installs auto-apply the standard setup plan and hatch the agent
directly in the terminal; configured installs (pre-existing model or gateway
config) stay verification-only and never reinstall or restart the Gateway
service. Setup-apply failures fall back to the conversational chat.
Remote-gateway onboarding keeps its legacy chat handoff explicitly.
listManualSetupInferenceOptions lists manual providers without scanning.

User-facing name is now OpenClaw (the system speaks); internal code name is
system-agent. Gateway methods crestodian.* -> openclaw.chat/openclaw.setup.*,
agent tool -> openclaw, reserved agent ids openclaw + retired crestodian.
openclaw setup routes: onboarding flags -> onboard, -m/--yes -> system agent,
bare configured interactive -> OpenClaw chat, unconfigured -> onboarding.
Hidden crestodian CLI and /crestodian TUI aliases kept; docs moved to
docs/cli/openclaw.md with redirect stub. macOS/Android strings in lockstep.

* fix(wizard): defer config commit until after migration apply succeeds
Onboarding migration import commits the config file to disk before the
migration provider's apply() runs. If apply() legitimately reports an
error on any item, runSetupMigrationImport() throws, but the config is
already committed with wizard metadata stamped on it. On the very next
onboarding attempt, the freshness gate sees that stamped config and
refuses to run the import, telling the user a fresh setup is required.
Move the commitConfigFile call to after assertApplySucceeded(), so a
failed apply never leaves wizard metadata on disk that blocks the next
retry behind the fresh-setup gate.
The in-memory config still has wizard metadata applied before the apply
context is constructed (so the apply function can reference a concrete
target), but the disk write only happens after apply succeeds.

* fix(lint): remove useless assignment in migration config commit

* fix(wizard): preserve config patches from provider apply after commit
Restore the targetConfig assignment from commitConfigFile so that config
patches written by the provider during apply (e.g. auth profile
selections) are carried forward. Without this, the pre-apply snapshot
silently replaces the post-apply config, losing provider-authored
patches.

* feat(ui): redesign Channels page with guided channel setup wizard
Adds wizard.start flow=channels gateway RPC (additive protocol change) that
drives the shared channel-setup wizard (openclaw channels add) over the
session step protocol. Control UI Channels page becomes a card hub with
plugin-art covers, guided per-channel setup modal (WhatsApp QR pairing via
web.login.*, BotFather/Slack/Discord helper links), and a detail overlay
hosting the full schema config form.
* test(ui): cover channel wizard controller; refresh channels view test props
* chore(mock): use non-token-shaped wizard placeholder
* test(gateway): scanner-safe auth local in channels wizard test
* fix(ui): cancel gateway wizard session on channels page disconnect
* fix(ui): adopt browse-all channel pick and guard dirty config before setup
* fix(ui): cancel gateway session created by a stale wizard.start
* fix(ui): adopt multiselect channel picks; drop redundant String()
* fix(ui): track all wizard-adopted channels so WhatsApp QR runs regardless of pick order
* feat(gateway): report configured channels on terminal channel-wizard result
Replaces the Control UI's channel-adoption heuristic with the authoritative
outcome: the channels flow reports its actual selection after config commit,
the wizard session surfaces it as an additive channels field on the terminal
wizard.next result, and the UI keys WhatsApp QR linking off that.
* refactor(ui): align channels hub with the unified settings design language
Hub becomes settings-language rows (44px art tiles, status dots, uppercase
section headings, hairline groups) instead of a card gallery; the detail
overlay hosts the migrated per-channel settings sections with Run setup in
the header. Wizard dialog and tile/cover styles move to spacing tokens.
* chore(i18n): translate channels hub/setup strings; refresh raw-copy baseline
* refactor: satisfy LOC ratchet and dead-export gates
Split mock-dev channel/plugin fixtures into their own modules, move wizard
runner types/defaults to server-methods/wizard.ts, extract the channels page
wizard host and nostr profile HTTP ops, and unexport internal-only types
(incl. the unused config-form SECTION_META barrel re-export).
* chore(i18n): retranslate channels strings on rebased locale bundles
* fix(test): drop redundant String() in channels wizard e2e
* fix: address channel-wizard review findings
- lock wizard cancellation before durable installs/config writes
- report configured channel accounts on the terminal wizard result and
start WhatsApp QR pairing for that account (web.login accountId)
- forward request options through the browser gateway client so wizard
