Sanjay Santhanam 65526ed389 fix: gmail setup fails to load gcloud when an unsupported Python is first on PATH (#112983)
* fix(gmail-setup): skip python interpreters gcloud can't use

resolvePythonExecutablePath accepted the first python3/python found on
PATH without checking its version, so macOS' bundled Python 3.9 (earlier
on PATH than a Homebrew 3.10-3.14 install) was chosen as CLOUDSDK_PYTHON
and gcloud failed to load. Query each candidate's version and skip any
outside gcloud's supported 3.10-3.14 range so a compatible interpreter
later on PATH is selected instead.

PR 2 of the media legacy retirement program. Gateway display projection,
Control UI (history filtering, attachment rendering, initial-turn
handoff), embedded and plugin-harness hydration, replay/prune, late-media
reconstruction, hooks, media understanding, and trajectory capture now
read nested __openclaw.media facts first. Legacy top-level Media* fields
survive only in the narrow persisted-message compatibility reader (rows
predating the PR-1 dual-write) and the public SDK projection.

Non-goals pinned by tests: rendered batches, reply-payload dedupe,
durable session/outbound queues, and lowercase ReplyPayload.mediaUrl(s)
are untouched contracts.

Consumer matrix covers {legacy-only, facts-only, both-equal,
both-conflict, sparse, type-only, media-only} inputs across every
consumer family; prompt/cache goldens byte-identical; 131-file legacy
consumer sweep run individually (two failures reproduce unchanged on
clean main); 1,047 broad media tests and the full UI lane (5,553) green.

* refactor(media): drop caller-less staging predicate and localize empty-user-row classification

The consumer flip left hasStagedMediaProjection without production
callers (facts-only staging uses hasStagedMediaFacts); delete it and
retest the staged merge matrix against the facts predicate. Unexport
LEGACY_MEDIA_CONTEXT_KEYS (internal only; the derived type stays public).
Move isEmptyUserTextOnlyMessage beside the other message-shape
classifiers in ui/src/lib/chat/message-extract.ts where chat-history
imports it cross-module.

- Every media-bearing user turn now persists normalized __openclaw.media
  facts unconditionally while continuing to emit the legacy top-level
  Media* projection byte-identically (dual-write bridge; the conditional
  shouldPersistStructuredMediaEntries gate now always includes media).
- New replacement APIs, shipped before any removal: typed hook media
  facts (media[], originalMedia[], mediaStagingPending) on message
  events; {{AttachmentPath}}/{{AttachmentUrl}}/{{AttachmentContentType}}/
  {{AttachmentDir}}/{{AttachmentIndex}} template variables; focused
  openclaw/plugin-sdk/media-local-roots subpath split out of the
  deprecated agent-media-payload facade.
- Every legacy surface carries @deprecated naming its replacement, under
  one named compatibility record media-legacy-projection with the
  operator-approved removeAfter 2026-10-01 (two release trains; deletion
  additionally gates on a clean published-plugin artifact sweep).
- Generic transcript append invariant documented; SDK migration, hooks,
  and configuration docs updated to the facts-first path.

Writer golden matrix proves legacy bytes and model prompt bytes are
unchanged while nested facts become unconditional. 2,189 broad media
tests green; SDK api-baseline regenerated on fresh-env Testbox.

* refactor(media): delete internal MsgContext.Media* parallel fields for fact-only runtime

Internal runtime now carries a fact-only RuntimeMsgContext: the legacy
MediaPath/MediaUrl/MediaType parallel fields (and plural/transcribed
variants), their alignment and default helpers, and bundled legacy payload
builders are removed from internal paths. Staging, hooks, Gateway, media
understanding, and the Telegram, QQ, Signal, Slack, iMessage, Discord, QA,
and Zalo plugins consume ordered MediaFact[] directly.

Retained boundaries per the program audit: public Plugin SDK MsgContext,
persisted transcript Media* rows, and documented template variables keep
working via projectMediaFacts at the five declared seams (fact owner,
channel payload, inbound-event, transcript persistence, SDK adapter).

Review-round hardening, each with regressions:
- hasStagedMediaProjection requires every path-bearing fact staged (was
  any-satisfied; mixed contexts skipped staging unstaged facts).
- finalizeInboundContext returns Omit<T, LegacyMediaContextKey> so deleted
  legacy fields leave the type when they leave the object.
- QQ image facts carry explicit kind: "image" (remote URLs have no MIME).
- resolveStagedMediaFacts adopts staged legacy paths positionally while
  retaining canonical fact metadata and cardinality (staged projections
  previously replaced canonical facts wholesale).

1,615 tests across 47 files; goldens untouched; delegated check:changed
green (run 30009882062).

* test(media): migrate remaining legacy Media* consumer suites to structured facts

Exact-head CI caught suites outside the curated affected set that still
asserted internal legacy fields. All were stale internal-field assertions
migrated to facts, except QA Channel, which had a real migration gap: it
still constructed the bundled legacy payload internally and now normalizes
saved attachments with toInboundMediaFacts and passes the declared media
parameter directly. Exhaustive rg sweep over every test referencing the
deleted fields (133 files, each run individually) is green.

facts. Four review cycles hardened the canonical/legacy merge: canonical
facts are authoritative (legacy fills gaps only), one shared staging
predicate covers MediaStaged and MediaWorkspaceDir, kind inference runs
after fallback MIME fills, legacy counts use max array cardinality, and
alignment-only empty slots no longer count as media presence — all
pinned by a 54-cell canonical×legacy×type merge-matrix test.

Carry a bounded stderr tail across data chunks so the address-in-use
marker is detected even when split across chunk boundaries. Without
this, the exit handler misses the bind failure and enters an endless
5-second respawn loop instead of stopping restarts.

Restart policy waited on exit while Node can still deliver the final
stderr fragment afterward, so a split bind marker could still respawn.

Final sweep of the media-placeholder program: with all eleven producers
migrated, the consumer regexes are dead input and are hard-deleted —
media-understanding token un-mixing (bodies are pure user text now),
the persisted-user-turn placeholder drop, the session-memory strip, and
the inbound-event mediaPlaceholder field with its replacement branch
(an intentional removal of shipped SDK surface per the program's
hard-delete decision: plugins still minting placeholder bodies render
them as literal text until updated). formatMediaPlaceholderText remains
the single owner of the <media:kind> vocabulary, used only for
text-only carriers. Legacy tokens in pre-migration history remain
ordinary text.

ClawSweeper review noted that openRootFileSync validates stat size
before returning the fd, but the subsequent fs.readFileSync of the fd
was unbounded. A file that grows after validation could still OOM
workspace discovery. Replace the full fd read with a chunked bounded
reader that throws once maxBytes is exceeded, and add regression
coverage for the overflow case.

surfaces as RangeError, keeping the warning accurate for both static
oversized files and post-open growth.

Add focused tests: warning content for both oversized surfaces,
continued discovery alongside an oversized hook, exact-limit acceptance,
and the plain-hook fallback when a package manifest is oversized.

* feat(codex): continue paired-node Codex catalog sessions from the Control UI

Codex catalog rows on paired nodes were view-only. Node rows are now
continuable when the node advertises and permits the codex threads.list,
thread.turns.list, and cli.session.resume commands. Continue adopts the
session into a locked codex OpenClaw session (deterministic
harness:codex:node-session key, bounded native-history import, two-phase
initializing marker) and installs a webchat conversation binding
(codex-cli-node-session) through the new generic
bindPluginSessionConversation seam with attempt-ID guarded rollback, so
each web turn runs codex exec resume on the owning node via the existing
inbound_claim path. Local continue/archive semantics are unchanged;
archived rows are no longer offered as continuable.

* fix(plugins): serialize plugin session binds per session

Review P2: the bind rollback checked the attempt id and then awaited the
unbind, so a concurrent Continue could install a newer binding between the
two and lose it to the older attempt's rollback. All session binds for one
session key now queue through an in-process tail, so a failing attempt can
only ever roll back its own binding; the attempt-id guard stays as defense
against out-of-band rebinds.

* refactor(codex): extract node-continue and session-bind modules for the LOC ratchet

Pure movement to satisfy the changed-file TypeScript size ratchet: the
paired-node continue flow moves to session-catalog-node-continue.ts and
session-catalog-node-adoption.ts, catalog paging/parsing helpers to

node continues closed without operator.admin, before the dedupe join so a
non-admin cannot ride an admin's in-flight operation. (2) The node binding
stored the app-server threadId, but codex exec resume takes the CLI session
id and forked threads share a session tree where the two differ; the binding
now prefers record.sessionId.

* fix(codex): defer node-session restore until the binding is durable

Third review round: continuing an archived adopted node session unarchived
it before the gateway installed the conversation binding, so a failed bind
left a visible session with no node routing. The unarchive now rides
afterConversationBound; finalizeNodeAdoptedSession already covers both the
initializing and finalized marker states, so the eager restore helper is
deleted.

full VACUUM), and doctor reports state/agent DB bloat from freelist
stats.

The supervision catalog passed the legacy sessionFile locator to the

When llmSlug is enabled with a model override in the session-memory hook
config, that model was ignored — slug generation always resolved the
agent default model via resolveDefaultModelForAgent.

Add an optional model parameter to generateSlugViaLLM and pass
hookConfig.model from the session-memory handler. When a hook model is
provided, only the model is forwarded (provider is omitted) so
runEmbeddedAgent's built-in resolveInitialEmbeddedRunModel chain handles
alias, provider-qualified ref, and bare-name resolution through a single
source of truth — avoiding the routing drift that blocked prior PRs.

* docs(session-logs): include archived transcripts in skill examples

Plain .jsonl globs miss .jsonl.reset.*Z and .jsonl.deleted.*Z files,
which still contain real transcript content. Add explicit guidance and
a list_session_transcripts helper so searches can opt in to full
history when needed.

Pairs with the session-memory recover-from-archive fix in the same
branch.

* docs(session-logs): scope nullglob and use while-read in helper

Address Greptile review feedback on PR #71537:

* nullglob is now saved and restored inside list_session_transcripts so
  the helper does not change the caller shell environment when sourced.
* Replace 'for f in $(list_session_transcripts)' tip with a 'while
  IFS= read -r' loop so paths with spaces or other IFS characters are
  handled correctly. Include a worked example using the same date+size
  listing the surrounding section already documents.

Doc only, no runtime behavior change.

lastAssistantText persisted across user messages, causing delivery-mirror
rows that echoed a previous turn's assistant text to be incorrectly
filtered. Reset lastAssistantText to undefined when a visible user
message is emitted, so cross-turn delivery-mirror duplicates are
preserved while same-turn duplicates are still skipped.
