Peter Steinberger fda20a6ed2 fix(systemd): honor effective drop-in configuration (#129170)
* fix(systemd): honor effective drop-in configuration

Read one coherent manager-loaded service snapshot while retaining the managed base definition for repairs. Track drop-in ownership, surface pending daemon reloads, and keep update and doctor rewrites from adopting operator-owned values.

Closes #128929

* fix(systemd): expose reload status in service snapshot

* test(systemd): cover Linux doctor ownership

Peter Steinberger 9bdc37f4ba fix(doctor): give the operator a way out of an unparseable config (#126757)
`openclaw onboard` refuses a corrupt openclaw.json and tells the operator to run
`openclaw doctor --fix`. Doctor then answered with one sentence -- "Config could
not be parsed or recovered ... refusing to apply repairs" -- named no next step,
and exited 1. The operator was left looping between two commands that pointed at
each other.

The refuse path also wrote openclaw.json.clobbered.<timestamp> and called it
"Original preserved", but it had not clobbered anything: at that point the
snapshot is a reread of the live file, so the copy was byte-identical to the
untouched config. Three failed runs left three identical copies.

Drop the copy and say what to do instead: name the file, state that it cannot be
repaired automatically, and point at `openclaw config validate` for the exact
parse position, hand-editing, or moving the file aside and re-running
`openclaw onboard`. Commands go through formatCliCommand so profile and
container invocations stay pasteable.

`doctor-config-preflight.ts` was the only caller of the public
preserveConfigSnapshotAsClobbered wrapper, so the wrapper, its factory entry and
its barrel export go too; the genuine recovery paths keep using the core helper
and still preserve real originals. Production -16 LOC.

Harjoth Khara 2358566c29 fix(doctor): session SQLite restore installs an empty session index over the valid archive (#117221)
* fix(doctor): restore the pre-migration session index when runs share a store

Restore picked the winning archive by manifest iteration order, newest first.
When a legacy writer recreated an empty sessions.json between migrations, the
newest run had archived that empty file, so restore installed it and then
refused the only archive holding real sessions as a conflict.

Resolve one winning archive per destination before writing anything, preferring
the earliest run whose archive is still restorable. Losing archives are never
deleted and stay visible as conflicts.

Closes #116163

* fix(doctor): fail closed on ambiguous session restores

* test(doctor): key restore conflicts by archive

* fix(sessions): stop rejecting header-less persisted transcripts as legacy

Sessions whose SQLite transcript has no session header row were treated as

stripped best-effort config — silently dropping the user's gateway/models
sections — then exited 0. Preserve the original as `.clobbered.*` and refuse to
apply repairs (exit 1 with the preserved path) when the config is unparseable
and unrecoverable. Shared preserveConfigSnapshotAsClobbered helper; the
promoted-recovery path is unchanged.

Peter Steinberger 3c8269ca52 refactor(codex)!: fold the codex text provider into openai with a doctor migration
The live codex text provider was a redundant projection of the openai
catalog (exclusive provider ownership; the openai plugin's ChatGPT OAuth
discovery already serves gpt-5.6-* route-aware). Folding it:

- extensions/codex no longer registers a text provider, catalog entry, or
  synthetic text auth; provider.ts/provider-catalog.ts/provider-discovery.ts
and the route-blind model-name heuristics are deleted; the narrow
post-harness reasoning fallback moves to an app-server-owned module
- openai thinking policy keys on explicit selected-route provenance
  (api === openai-chatgpt-responses) instead of value-shape inference
- models.list gains an optional additive agentRuntime field (configured
intent); session agentHarnessId remains the execution proof
- doctor --fix migrates the shipped codex/* config shape end to end:
every model slot, provider-config merge with blocker-aware conflict
handling, sessions, cron payloads (two-phase: runtime policy persists
before cron refs rewrite), transcripts; migrated refs carry model-scoped
agentRuntime.id=codex preserving the shipped wizard semantics; auto
  runtime policies normalize to codex with sibling fields preserved;
blocked provider conflicts retain the whole legacy namespace fail-closed
  with an actionable warning
- the stale openai:default profile cleanup (#91352) was deliberately
deferred to a follow-up after review showed it needs per-agent identity
proofs; doctor keeps warning about unusable profiles

* fix(codex): require sqlite trajectory recorder

* test(sessions): align orphan recovery sqlite fixture

Resolve the whole-store SDK removal across its owner boundary: drop the
loadSessionStore re-export and the registry whole-store wrappers, wire
hasTrackedActiveSessionRun into gateway chat, complete the
preserveLockedHarnessIds cleanup contract, flip the codex thread-history
import to storePath targets, and port remaining main-side tests from
file-store helpers to session accessor reads.

* chore: drop committed pebbles log, revert plugin-inspector bump, refresh generated docs

Remove the 1.8k-line .pebbles/events.jsonl work log from the branch, restore
the plugin-inspector advisory lane to main's pinned 0.3.10 so the supply-chain
bump gets its own review, and regenerate docs_map, the plugin SDK API baseline,
and the export-surface ratchet for the merged tree.

* feat(sessions): keep archived transcripts by default with zstd cold storage

Codex-style retention: deleting or resetting a session archives its
transcript as a zstd-compressed JSONL artifact (plain when the runtime
lacks node:zlib zstd) and keeps it until the disk budget evicts oldest
first. resetArchiveRetention now governs both deleted and reset archives
and defaults to keep; maxDiskBytes defaults to 2gb so retention stays
bounded, with archives evicted before live sessions. The cron reaper
follows the same knob instead of deleting archives on its own timer.

* fix(state): converge agent DB migration lineages and bound database growth

Merge coherence: run both structure-gated legacy memory-schema repairs
(flip-lineage drop, main-lineage identity rebuild) before the flip
migration so pre-flip v1/v2 and pre-merge flip v1/v4 databases all
converge, and hoist foreign_keys=OFF outside the schema transaction
where the pragma was silently ignored and the v1 sessions rebuild
cascade-deleted session_entries.

Growth guards: fresh agent DBs enable auto_vacuum=INCREMENTAL, WAL
maintenance releases freed pages in bounded passes (never a blocking
full VACUUM), and doctor reports state/agent DB bloat from freelist
stats.

* fix(codex): resolve the store path for thread-history import via the SDK

The supervision catalog passed the legacy sessionFile locator to the
storePath-targeted transcript mirror; resolve the agent store path with
the session-store SDK helper instead of a runtime-object seam so test
fakes and headless callers need no extra surface. Drop the obsolete
missing-session-id preprocessing case: sessions rows are NOT NULL on
session_id and upsert repairs id-less patches at write time.

* fix(sessions): fail safe on malformed disk-budget config and doctor stat errors

A malformed explicit maxDiskBytes disables the budget instead of
falling back to the destructive 2gb default the user never chose, and
the doctor bloat check skips databases whose paths stat-fail instead of
aborting doctor.

* fix(sessions): complete sqlite conflict translations

* test(sqlite): align hardening checks with maintenance

* test(sessions): inspect compressed transcript archives

* fix(tests): await session seeds and drop unused helpers flagged by CI lint

The five unawaited writeSessionStoreSeed calls raced their SQLite seeds
against the assertions, failing compact shards; the bloat probe drops a
useless initializer and the merged tests drop now-unused helpers.

* test(sessions): type legacy proof events directly

* test(sessions): align hardening contracts

* perf(sessions): read usage transcript sizes from SQL aggregates

Usage/cost scans walked every session and materialized every transcript
event just to re-stringify it for a byte estimate — the #86718 stall
class reborn on the DB. readTranscriptStatsSync sums stored JSON bytes
in SQLite without loading a single row.

* fix(sessions): re-root foreign-root transcript paths onto the current sessions dir

Restored backups, moved OPENCLAW_STATE_DIR, and rehearsal copies carry
absolute sessionFile paths from the old root; the containment fallback
kept those foreign paths, so migration read (and would archive) files in
the original root and reported local copies missing. Re-root the
canonical agents/<id>/sessions suffix onto the current dir when the file
exists there; genuine cross-root layouts still fall through unchanged.

* test(agents): seed harness admission through sqlite

* fix(sqlite): close agent db on pragma setup failure

* fix(doctor): compact and retrofit incremental auto-vacuum after session import

The migration is the sanctioned offline window: post-import compact
reclaims import churn and applies auto_vacuum=INCREMENTAL to databases
created before the fresh-DB pragma existed, so runtime maintenance can
release pages in bounded passes on every install.

SunnyShu 90250dcc9a fix(auth): repair stale orders and token health rollups (#98105)
* fix(auth): preserve token health after OAuth migration

After a user migrates from OAuth to a token/setup-token credential, the
gateway model-auth rollup reported the provider as missing, producing a
false "model auth expired" warning.

Rename aggregateOAuthStatus → aggregateRefreshableAuthStatus and
extract aggregateProfileStatus helper. OAuth remains authoritative when
present; token credentials are the fallback when no effective OAuth
profile exists. Empty effectiveProfiles stays authoritative (missing).
Token fallback applies regardless of expectsOAuth flag.

Peter Steinberger d92b3b5cc2 refactor: unify OpenAI provider identity
Refactor OpenAI provider identity so OpenAI remains the canonical provider for API-key and OAuth-backed flows while legacy openai-codex state is doctor/migration-only.

Keeps OpenAI Codex Responses as an API/transport class rather than a provider identity, moves auth aliases through providerAuthAliases, updates doctor repair sequencing for old auth/profile state, and refreshes tests/docs around the canonical OpenAI behavior.

Merlin 00067563a6 fix(doctor): handle gateway SecretRefs in auth checks
Handle exec-backed Gateway SecretRefs in doctor, lint, and health probing without executing providers by default.

- Add `openclaw doctor --allow-exec` for explicit SecretRef execution during lint/doctor checks.
- Skip only the active exec-backed gateway probe path and avoid local service diagnostics for remote-only skipped health.
- Keep env-winning and dormant fallback credentials probeable, stabilize related tests, and remove a stale live-shard fixture left by the moving base.

Verification:
- `node scripts/run-vitest.mjs src/commands/doctor-gateway-auth-token.test.ts src/commands/doctor.warns-state-directory-is-missing.e2e.test.ts src/gateway/credentials.test.ts src/gateway/probe-auth.test.ts src/commands/doctor-gateway-daemon-flow.test.ts test/scripts/test-live-shard.test.ts --reporter=verbose`
- `mise x node@24.13.0 -- pnpm prompt:snapshots:check`
- `pnpm tsgo:prod`
- `pnpm build`
- `.agents/skills/autoreview/scripts/autoreview --mode branch --base origin/main`
- Crabbox AWS live config proof: `run_f44a4d9dae4e`
- GitHub CI: green on final head `88d24abdbf9529a59d75d1d5e04eac74bbbbc267` after rerunning a stale in-progress Security High workflow.

Gio Della-Libera 1b5bc33161 fix(doctor): archive legacy clawd browser profile residue (#83230)
* fix(doctor): archive legacy clawd browser profile residue

* Avoid browser cleanup load without residue

Doctor --fix now skips loading the browser doctor facade unless the legacy browser/clawd profile path exists, preventing broad config repair tests from paying the plugin load cost when there is nothing to archive.

* Use structured health check for browser residue

Register the legacy clawd browser profile residue cleanup through the modern doctor health-check contract so doctor --lint can report it and doctor --fix repairs it through structured effects.

Gio Della-Libera 9a5f2f61e7 Doctor: add health-check contract and --lint validation (#80055)
* feat(doctor): add --lint mode + structured HealthFinding shape

Adds the core machinery for `openclaw doctor --lint` per the
doctor-lint-and-oc-rules upstream proposal. PR-1 of the proposal:
no new top-level verb, no public plugin SDK; everything internal.

Files:
- src/flows/checks.ts ? HealthFinding / HealthCheck / HealthCheckContext
types. Findings carry severity per-finding; checks return
readonly HealthFinding[]. Mode tag (doctor/lint/fix) lets a check
   distinguish the calling posture.
- src/flows/health-check-registry.ts ? module-level registry with
duplicate-id rejection + test reset helper.
- src/flows/doctor-lint-flow.ts ? runner over registered checks.
   Catches throws into synthetic error findings (anchored at check id;
message scrubbed of control chars, capped at 256 bytes). Sorts
findings by severity desc, check id, path. Exports
   exitCodeFromFindings (1 if any warning/error, 0 otherwise).
- src/flows/doctor-core-checks.ts ? 4 modern HealthChecks rewriting
logic from existing legacy run*Health functions:
     core/doctor/gateway-config (warning)
     core/doctor/command-owner (info)
     core/doctor/workspace-status (info)
     core/doctor/final-config-validation (error)
Each was audited safe per the proposal's adapter constraints
(no writes, no repair calls, no prompts, no probes incl. local-bind).
   Legacy run*Health contributions in doctor-health-contributions.ts
are unchanged ? doctor mode (no --lint) still runs the existing 35.
- src/commands/doctor-lint.ts ? CLI dispatch for --lint. Reads config
snapshot, builds HealthCheckContext (mode: "lint"), runs the registry,
filters by --severity-min, emits human or JSON output, returns exit
code from unfiltered set so --severity-min hides info findings
   without changing CI signal.
- src/cli/program/register.maintenance.ts ? adds --lint, --json,
--severity-min, --skip, --only flags to existing doctor command.
--lint branches to runDoctorLintCli; without --lint, doctor runs
   unchanged.

LoC: 382 src across 6 files. Tests + doc + oc-path-side rule packs
follow as separate commits on this branch.

* fix: avoid string spread in doctor errors

* chore: refresh plugin SDK API baseline

* docs: clarify doctor lint usage

* feat(doctor): prepare repairs for dry-run reporting
