Unset heartbeat.target now resolves "owner": elected heartbeat notifications deliver to the operator's DM resolved from commands.ownerAllowFrom or the channel allowFrom (first concrete entry; wildcards and channel-scoped wildcards excluded; configured owners exhausted across channels before any channel-local fallback). Delivery requires the channel's own classifier to positively prove a direct destination — every bundled messaging plugin now ships an inferTargetChatType contract — and unproven or group-shaped destinations fail closed to the visible no-route state. The first implicitly-routed delivery carries a one-line self-explanation naming the target: "none" opt-out. Explicit target "last" remains as the follow-the-conversation opt-in. Refines the unreleased #121892 default before it ships; refs #121880.

Unset heartbeat.target silently collapsed into the explicit "none" opt-out: heartbeats ran every 30m by default, elected notifications were dropped with only an in-memory event, and health read fine. Unset now resolves to "last" (the most recent conversation); explicit target: "none" keeps its internal-only contract. Polls skip pre-model with reason no-route while no route exists yet, and status/doctor surface the waiting-for-route state. Deliberate maintainer-owned default cutover: existing installs without a configured target start receiving heartbeat alerts in their last conversation after upgrade.

* fix(openai): describe personality as the canonical GPT-5 style toggle
The shipped config-schema description told operators and models to prefer
agents.defaults.promptOverlays.gpt5.personality, a retired key that config
validation rejects and doctor deletes. plugins.entries.openai.config.personality
is the only live reader (src/agents/gpt5-prompt-overlay.ts).
* docs: align prompt-overlay, truncation-notice, and pruning docs with shipped behavior
- teach plugins.entries.openai.config.personality as canonical; retired
agents.defaults.promptOverlays noted as rejected/migrated
- replace nonexistent agents.defaults.bootstrapPromptTruncationWarning with
prose describing the built-in always-on notice
- reword session-pruning internal constants as built-in behavior, name the
real contextPruning config surface
- delete stale/orphan pages (path3 harness for a never-committed script,
superseded swarms plan, landed path3 artifact-family scoping note)
- fix dead paths in reference/test.md and concepts/typebox.md
* docs: describe the embedded truncation notice as compact
The embedded runtime injects buildBootstrapPromptWarningNotice, which
deliberately omits file names and sizes; per-file diagnostics stay in
/context, status, and logs. Addresses ClawSweeper P2 on #121324.
* docs: doctor migrates the retired personality key instead of removing it
Main landed #121346 mid-flight: doctor --fix now moves
agents.defaults.promptOverlays.gpt5.personality into
plugins.entries.openai.config.personality when unset.
The group-mentions ack gate returned false whenever a group did not require mentions, conflating group policy with whether this message mentioned the agent. Under the default scope, mentioning the agent in a group configured to answer everything produced no ack at all, so the user had no signal the turn was picked up until the reply arrived.
Behavior change on a default path: those groups now show the 👀 ack (and the lifecycle status reactions when messages.statusReactions.enabled is true) on mentions. Mention-required groups, group-all, unmentioned messages, and off/none are unchanged. The gate no longer reads requireMention, so the parameter is gone from the shared type and all channel call sites.
Proven live on Telegram across three configurations, including a no-mention control confirming group-mentions did not become group-all.

* fix(config): compaction.enabled is rejected as invalid config
Setting agents.defaults.compaction.enabled in openclaw.json made the
whole config fail to load with "agents.defaults.compaction: Invalid
input", so auto-compaction could not be turned off.
The runtime already reads the field (SettingsManager.getCompactionEnabled
returns settings.compaction?.enabled ?? true, and setCompactionEnabled
writes it), and the documented config example in
docs/reference/session-management-compaction.md already shows
"enabled: true". Only the zod schema was missing the key, and the
compaction object is .strict(), so the unknown key rejected the config.
Adds enabled to AgentDefaultsSchema and to AgentCompactionConfig.

The runtime retirement already shipped: busy deferral is automatic,
reasoning payloads stay internal, the HEARTBEAT_OK ack budget is fixed at
300 chars, the Heartbeats prompt section follows cadence, and tool-error
warnings are always on. Docs still advertised skipWhenBusy, ackMaxChars,
includeReasoning, includeSystemPromptSection, and suppressToolErrorWarnings
as live options; this aligns seven pages with the fixed policies and the
strict heartbeat field list, locks the claw-profile skipWhenBusy rejection
diagnostic with a dedicated test, renames includeReasoning-era test/comments,
and canonicalizes claw add-plan workspace path assertions (macOS realpath).
* feat(models): add Claude Opus 5 support
* test(models): align Opus 5 setup fixtures
* test(models): update ambient Opus 5 detection
* fix(models): reconcile Opus 5 support with main
* refactor(heartbeat): make cron monitor rows own heartbeat cadence
agents.*.heartbeat.every stays the documented desired-state input; gateway
reconciliation and openclaw doctor --fix write it through into durable
system-owned cron monitor rows, and a scheduled monitor tick carries its
persisted everyMs/anchorMs as the authoritative cadence, which the runner
adopts for subsequent event cooldowns. Doctor gains a read-only cadence
preview (resolves the scheduler seed without creating device identity) and
an idempotent fix path that converges monitor rows per agent.
The cron-disabled fallback timer is deleted per its named removal plan
(#110950): gateways with cron.enabled=false or OPENCLAW_SKIP_CRON=1 log a
startup warning and get no scheduled heartbeats; manual and event-driven
wakes remain.

* fix(ui): re-export sharing protocol types for the Control UI
* fix(ui): keep SessionSharingRole internal to satisfy deadcode gate
* fix(gateway): read runtime config lazily in session-mutation authorization
authorizeSessionMutation ran on every gateway request but eagerly called
context.getRuntimeConfig() — a non-trivial config resolve — for methods that
are never session mutations. Read config only once a real session-mutation
target is resolved. Also register the four session sharing methods in the
2026.7 release-train inventory test.
* fix(gateway): share one config snapshot across session-mutation authorization
Group rename/delete discovery and the authorization loop were each resolving
runtime config separately after the lazy-read change. Memoize the resolve so
non-session requests still pay nothing, while any session mutation resolves
config at most once and both discovery and authorization use that single
snapshot (no double reload, no mid-request config-change split).
* fix(gateway): resolve session-sharing CI gates
- isGatewayAdmin: null-safe connect access so internal/plugin-runtime runs
(which reach authorization with a connect-less client) do not crash.
- emitSessionsChanged: scope only to a concrete session key; a [undefined]
sessionKeys scope filters nothing correctly and would strip draft gating.
- session stores: mark the sync TOCTOU re-read and the sqlite_master
existence probe as narrowly-justified raw SQLite primitives.
- tests: provide getRuntimeConfig to the session-action contract context,
drop a shadowed 'call' binding, use structuredClone, and assert the
agent-scoped sessions.changed broadcast shape.
* docs(gateway): note best-effort participation gate + refresh native i18n baseline
Session ownership/visibility are usability features, not a security boundary
(docs/concepts/multi-user.md, SECURITY.md); document that the pre-dispatch
authorization is intentionally not commit-bound to the resolved instance.
Also refresh apps/.i18n/native-source.json after the session-sharing protocol
codegen shifted line numbers of existing native strings (position-only).
* test(gateway): reset session sharing snapshots
* style(gateway): format sharing reset import
Route automatic dashboard titles through the effective session model and auth profile while preserving explicit cross-provider utility ownership and the existing generic title fallback.
* fix(config): reject zero-value resetArchiveRetention to prevent silent data loss
* fix: add braces to guard clauses for curly lint rule
* fix: normalize numeric values and cover pruneAfter fallback in migration
* fix: reject zero-value pruneAfter at schema level to close fallback gap
* fix: independently check and repair both retention fields in migration
* fix: split doctor diagnostics into field-specific rules and messages
* fix: remove unused local in migration test helper
* fix: repair 5 lint errors (curly braces, zero-fraction, narrow value)
* fix(doctor): rewrite zero resetArchiveRetention to false instead of deleting it
Deleting a zero resetArchiveRetention caused the runtime to fall back to
pruneAfter (default 30d), which contradicted the doctor output that
claimed archives would be kept indefinitely. Only an explicit false
value produces indefinite retention per the documented schema.
- P1: Rewrite zero resetArchiveRetention to false in the doctor
migration apply callback, matching the promised indefinite-retention
behavior.
- P3: Update the pruneAfter rule warning to describe eligible
stale/non-preserved session entries instead of "all sessions".
* fix(config): repair zero retention safely

* refactor(sessions): migrate runtime storage to sqlite
* test(sessions): fix sqlite CI regressions
* test(sessions): align remaining sqlite fixtures
* fix(codex): require sqlite trajectory recorder
* test(sessions): align orphan recovery sqlite fixture
* test(sessions): align sqlite rebase fixtures
* fix(sessions): finish current-main integration of the sqlite flip
Resolve the whole-store SDK removal across its owner boundary: drop the
loadSessionStore re-export and the registry whole-store wrappers, wire
hasTrackedActiveSessionRun into gateway chat, complete the
preserveLockedHarnessIds cleanup contract, flip the codex thread-history
import to storePath targets, and port remaining main-side tests from
file-store helpers to session accessor reads.
* chore: drop committed pebbles log, revert plugin-inspector bump, refresh generated docs
Remove the 1.8k-line .pebbles/events.jsonl work log from the branch, restore
the plugin-inspector advisory lane to main's pinned 0.3.10 so the supply-chain
bump gets its own review, and regenerate docs_map, the plugin SDK API baseline,
and the export-surface ratchet for the merged tree.
* feat(sessions): keep archived transcripts by default with zstd cold storage
Codex-style retention: deleting or resetting a session archives its
transcript as a zstd-compressed JSONL artifact (plain when the runtime
lacks node:zlib zstd) and keeps it until the disk budget evicts oldest
first. resetArchiveRetention now governs both deleted and reset archives
and defaults to keep; maxDiskBytes defaults to 2gb so retention stays
bounded, with archives evicted before live sessions. The cron reaper
follows the same knob instead of deleting archives on its own timer.
* fix(state): converge agent DB migration lineages and bound database growth
Merge coherence: run both structure-gated legacy memory-schema repairs
(flip-lineage drop, main-lineage identity rebuild) before the flip
migration so pre-flip v1/v2 and pre-merge flip v1/v4 databases all
converge, and hoist foreign_keys=OFF outside the schema transaction
where the pragma was silently ignored and the v1 sessions rebuild
cascade-deleted session_entries.
Growth guards: fresh agent DBs enable auto_vacuum=INCREMENTAL, WAL
maintenance releases freed pages in bounded passes (never a blocking
full VACUUM), and doctor reports state/agent DB bloat from freelist
stats.
* fix(codex): resolve the store path for thread-history import via the SDK
The supervision catalog passed the legacy sessionFile locator to the
storePath-targeted transcript mirror; resolve the agent store path with
the session-store SDK helper instead of a runtime-object seam so test
fakes and headless callers need no extra surface. Drop the obsolete
missing-session-id preprocessing case: sessions rows are NOT NULL on
session_id and upsert repairs id-less patches at write time.
* fix(sessions): fail safe on malformed disk-budget config and doctor stat errors
A malformed explicit maxDiskBytes disables the budget instead of
falling back to the destructive 2gb default the user never chose, and
the doctor bloat check skips databases whose paths stat-fail instead of
aborting doctor.
* fix(sessions): complete sqlite conflict translations
* test(sqlite): align hardening checks with maintenance
* test(sessions): inspect compressed transcript archives
* fix(tests): await session seeds and drop unused helpers flagged by CI lint
The five unawaited writeSessionStoreSeed calls raced their SQLite seeds
against the assertions, failing compact shards; the bloat probe drops a
useless initializer and the merged tests drop now-unused helpers.
* test(sessions): type legacy proof events directly
* test(sessions): align hardening contracts
* perf(sessions): read usage transcript sizes from SQL aggregates
Usage/cost scans walked every session and materialized every transcript
event just to re-stringify it for a byte estimate — the #86718 stall
class reborn on the DB. readTranscriptStatsSync sums stored JSON bytes
in SQLite without loading a single row.
* fix(sessions): re-root foreign-root transcript paths onto the current sessions dir
Restored backups, moved OPENCLAW_STATE_DIR, and rehearsal copies carry
absolute sessionFile paths from the old root; the containment fallback
kept those foreign paths, so migration read (and would archive) files in
the original root and reported local copies missing. Re-root the
canonical agents/<id>/sessions suffix onto the current dir when the file
exists there; genuine cross-root layouts still fall through unchanged.
* test(agents): seed harness admission through sqlite
* fix(sqlite): close agent db on pragma setup failure
* fix(doctor): compact and retrofit incremental auto-vacuum after session import
The migration is the sanctioned offline window: post-import compact
reclaims import churn and applies auto_vacuum=INCREMENTAL to databases
created before the fresh-DB pragma existed, so runtime maintenance can
release pages in bounded passes on every install.
